Various New England Solar Projects

Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut

FBE currently supports solar energy projects in Maine and across New England in site design, environmental due diligence, and state, federal, and municipal land use permit development. Navigating the permitting process requires a thorough understanding of all applicable regulatory triggers, ranging from local ordinances to state and federal requirements. Throughout the project's development, FBE's experienced staff conduct agency consultation with appropriate regulatory authorities to introduce project design and discuss the desired level of effort for studies and documentation to be included in permit applications. FBE has worked with solar development clients in Maine on projects triggering the Site Location of Development Act, the Natural Resource Protection Act, Maine Stormwater Management Law, and US Army Corps Section 404 authority. In addition, FBE has experience with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act filings and the municipal site review process. FBE's ecologists and wetland scientists conduct natural resource field surveys, including wetland delineations, vernal pool surveys, species-specific surveys for rare, threatened, and endangered wildlife and plants, and monitoring of critical habitats. Lastly, FBE has developed relationships with trusted partners to complete all aspects of site plan, civil engineering, and stormwater planning.
