FB Environmental is a dynamic fourteen-person environmental consulting firm headquartered in Portland, Maine’s Old Port. We are a growing small business with a highly talented and motivated staff working to assess, protect, and restore natural resources throughout the northeastern United States.

There are currently two job openings:

Immediate Opening: Coastal Sciences Division Lead – Portland, ME or Dover, NH

We are seeking a qualified Coastal Scientist with a graduate degree and five or more years of experience for our Portland, Maine or Dover, NH office. The position will be responsible for leading cutting edge coastal projects across New England including climate change vulnerability assessments, shoreline restoration, environmental permitting, and more. Responsibilities include business development, grant writing, and project development. Applicants with skills in multiple environmental disciplines (e.g., marine biology, hydrology, geology) are preferred.

Qualifications

  • The qualified applicant will have knowledge and experience with:
    • Coastal Environmental Processes (ecological, biological, geological, chemical, physical)
    • Climate Change Resiliency Science and Planning
    • Project Management
    • Natural Resources Permitting
    • Data Analysis
  • MS or Ph.D. in Oceanography, Environmental Science, Coastal Geology, Biology, Ecology, Water Resources, or related field and five years of experience.
  • Knowledge and Experience with technical report writing, statistics, and GIS preferred.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and meet project deliverable schedules and budgets.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with proven strong skills working with clients and stakeholders, directing staff, and developing new business through grants, bids, and business relationships.

Immediate Opening: Environmental Project Manager – Portland, ME

We are seeking a qualified Environmental Project Manager with three or more years of experience for our Portland, Maine office. The position will be responsible for managing environmental projects across New England including watershed planning, community planning, climate change vulnerability assessments, environmental permitting, and more. Responsibilities include directing staff, business development, grant writing, and project development. Applicants must have experience managing multiple budgets and deadlines.

Qualifications

  • The qualified applicant will have knowledge and experience with:
    • Project Management
    • Natural Resource Sciences
    • Technical Report Writing
    • Natural Resources Permitting
    • Data Analysis and GIS Experience Preferred
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Geology, Biology, Ecology, Water Resources, or related field and two years (three years with a BS) of professional experience.
  • Ability to independently manage projects and meet project deliverable schedules and budgets.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with proven strong skills working with clients and stakeholders, directing staff, and developing new business through grants, bids, and business relationships.
