FBE completed a town-wide Natural Resources Inventory (NRI) update for Moultonborough, NH, a 75 square-mile town in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire. The town is fortunate to have within its boundaries several large waterbodies, mountains, and other natural resources that attract many visitors and seasonal residents. As part of the NRI, FBE identified rare plants, animals, and exemplary natural communities using the NH Division of Forests and Land Natural Heritage Bureau database. Additionally, FBE created maps of terrestrial and wetland communities throughout the town and identified and described soil types and locations. FBE then developed recommendations for managing natural resources in the community through a management plan and public outreach plan.
