FBE assists Riverside Municipal Golf Course in Portland, ME with environmental stewardship activities and natural resource protection. These efforts have resulted in Riverside's certification in Audubon International's Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf. As part of this certification, FBE assisted Portland's Riverside Golf Course with a project monitoring and reporting on a pest management practice implemented by the course superintendent with a reduced pesticide treatment rotation. FBE acted as a neutral third-party observer and systematically documented the presence of plant and insect pests. Also as part of the certification project, Riverside has constructed numerous nesting boxes with enormous success, and the course Superintendent is keeping bees. FBE also assisted Riverside to do a buffer planting along Dole Brook, a tributary to the Presumpscot River that flows through the golf course.
